The post graduation courses I've taken have given me a deeper understanding of the body's intricate structure and function. Thus, understanding how and why it heals.
- 6 day human cadaver dissection course has given me a visual awareness of how the body is interrelated.
- Body-Talk course gave me an understanding of the energetic fields of the body
- presently 4th year of a 5 year part-time Osteopathy program. Studying osteopathy has given me essential assessment and treatment techniques to determine the origin of discomfort as well as manage the symptomatic pain. In most cases, the pain someone is complaining of is a "symptom" of their actual discomfort. To understand where the pain is really coming from, it's important to understand the person. Every one has had different life experiences and different mechanisms of injury. Therefore, it is important to treat everyone as an individual taking into account their personal, spiritual, emotional life experiences as well as there physical ones. These aspects are all clues as to what is causing the "real" discomfort.
I have a passion for learning and self growth. I constantly challenge myself in order to get the most out of what life has to offer. I know in order to have an active, balanced life I must be attuned to the needs of my body, mind and spirit. In the past, I've dedicated myself for 8 years to attain a black belt in kickboxing. I'm now dedicating myself to activities which aren't as physically aggresive but are more balanced for my body and mind.
I believe a forgotten key aspect of health is "self awareness". Most people today live in a mental state unattuned to their body's needs. Receiving regular massage treatments brings you back "insync" with your body and increases your self awareness. This awareness will allow you to decipher the signals (pain) your body sends off to indicate something is wrong. Thus, preventing or being proactive to any injuries or diseases.
